Subject: The required OnlineHS Orientation Course is now available
Dear Students & Parents,
We’d like to welcome you to the Everett Public Schools virtual learning program: OnlineHS--for over a decade, one of the oldest and most successful in Washington State!
Our records indicate you are enrolled in an online class for the Spring 2016 term.
In preparation for working, learning, and earning credit online, students are required to first successfully complete an Orientation course.
About the Orientation
The Orientation course is a fantastic opportunity to experience online learning in a low-risk, low threat environment. The course prepares students to be successful as an online learner and importantly, how to be safe and responsible when working on the Internet.
There are eight units in the Orientation, each with material to learn and assignments & assessments to demonstrate understanding:
- Introduction to OnlineHS
- Enrollment
- YouTube
- Communication
- Digital Citizenship
- Academic Honesty
- How to be Successful
- Web 2.0
We highly recommend students take notes, as there are assignments and quizzes that must be passed. The good news is, students can retake quizzes and tests as many times as needed to demonstrate they’ve mastered the material.
Teachers are also available inside the course to provide guidance and assistance. We want students to be successful and are invested in ensuring that students who are earnest in their efforts are rewarded for their diligence.
The Orientation is REQUIRED
Successful completion of the Orientation course is REQUIRED before students are put into their academic course. Spring OnlineHS courses start on February 8th.
While there is no grade or impact on a student’s transcript, students who do not pass the Orientation course are automatically removed from the OnlineHS program and scheduled into an on-site class in their school building, by their counselor. This can dramatically affect a students class schedule.
