Congratulations to H.M. Jackson High School senior Rikki Myers, OnlineHS’s Student of the Month for March 2017.
Online learning– more than any other kind of education, highlights a student’s ability to be independent, self-motivated, responsible, a problem solver, and an excellent communicator. Rikki has excelled in all these skill and has clearly demonstrated herself to be an exceptional student in a variety of subjects.
English Teacher Laura Wight relates: “I would say that she Rikki is responsive to teacher input and works hard to do her best!”
“It’s energizing for a teacher to engage in high-level conversations with students who ask great questions and want to think deeper about important contemporary issues–Rikki is tops in working online AND engaging with her instructors,” says Social Studies instructor Kevin Corbett.
Ms. Myers is one of OnlineHS Top Stars, having taken FIFTEEN virtual learning courses during her four years at Jackson High School–the 2nd most ever in OnlineHS’s nearly 20 year history.
Says Rikki:
I really appreciate OnlineHS because it has allowed me to try so many new things with the free school periods.
Right now, I nanny in the morning and in my downtime I work on my classes. Online learning allows me to cater to my own ways of understanding material. I appreciate the flexibility it provides. I also feel better equipped to figuring out things on my own and being self-motivated to complete tasks, which is necessary for the work place.
In all, I think OnlineHS is the most effective use of my time and I have enjoyed taking multiple classes nearly every year.
Rikki Myers was a highly recruited soccer player and will continue her education in college with an athletic scholarship next year. We wish her continued success on the field and in the classroom!
