Congratulations to Michelle Geiszler, OnlineHS’s Student of the Month for February 2014.
Michelle is an exemplary virtual learning student who demonstrates the important ability to be self-motivated, self-directed and an independent problem solver.
She has been impressive in her Contemporary World Issues course. First, in her ability to research deeper into complicated issues to develop greater insights. Second, in her higher order thinking skills to ask critical questions and investigate alternative explanations and answers. Lastly, is her outstanding communication in the course, both with other students in the discussion boards and with her instructor.
Ms. Geiszler could be considered a bit of a online learning expert, having taken TEN OnlineHS courses. When asked what she likes about OnlineHS, Michelle says:
Definitely the teachers and flexibility! It’s so nice to be able to work classes around my life instead of having it the other way around. And I cannot say enough good things about the teachers that I’ve had with OnlineHS- I love them.
Michelle feels online learning helps prepare her for the future by reinforcing important communication and time management skills. “I feel like both of these are very important to have for life. Online learning really pushes me to develop in areas that aren’t really worked on in a traditional school setting, which I think is awesome.”
I asked Michelle what she thought other students and parents should know about the program and she said:
Although it can be challenging, it’s so worth it. I have loved every semester, class, and teacher that I’ve had with OnlineHS and would want the same experience for any and every student. I’ve found that I learn so much more about a subject when I actually enjoy the learning process, and this is exactly the case with OnlineHS.
We’re proud of Michelle Geiszler for her outstanding accomplishments and congratulate her on being Everett Public Schools OnlineHS Student of the Month for February 2014!
