Tyler Carlile is ready to graduate. I know this, because he is an outstanding student in my OnlineHS Senior Seminar course and that’s what makes him our OnlineHS Student of the Month for December.
Students can now fulfill their CE requirement through completing the Senior Seminar course online and Tyler is one of the first students to successfully complete this course. To earn credit for the CE Graduation requirement, students must complete: High School & Beyond Plan; Personal Project; Research Log; Reflection Log; and Self-Evaluation.
In his CE High School and Beyond Plan he says,
“I want to work with technology as a full-time job after college at the University of Washington. I want to use knowledge about networking, troubleshooting, programming, and hardware in this career to become successful. I would like to do this for a company that relies heavily on technology (e.g. Microsoft, Boeing, Apple, etc.). I will be able to tell if I’m achieving my goal by the job I’m able to get after college and whether or not I feel that the job suits my skill set and experience at the time. I will strive to achieve this goal by the following fall after I graduate.”
For his CE Personal Focus Project he proposed to test his skills.
“I’m going to work with an IT manager as my mentor and we are going to go over the basics of setting servers for different services to run a network, the services may include DCHP, DNS, mail services, application services, intranet services, and other services that may be required by a company to be productive and efficient. After setting up the servers in a created domain, we will set up a miniature network. To do this we will have servers and client computers connected through routers. We will add the computers to the same domain as the servers and go through administration to have all servers and computers working properly within the same domain to create a working network.”
He says that taking CE through OnlineHS fits his schedule and he likes the flexibility of learning online. It is clear that Tyler is well on his way to a successful future after graduation!
